The Church owns and operates a pear farm in Medford. They ask the church members to provide the manpower for the pear harvest every summer. Ryan and I took turns with our shifts. We got to ride on this fun raised platform/tractor and gather the pears in the treetops--hooked on with harnesses so we wouldn't fall off!

Plants and Animals
Agriculture and livestock are a huge element of life here in Oregon. EVERYBODY has chickens, goats, and a garden. MANY people have cows, horses, and an orchard. We've never had so much exposure to plants and animals before!

For scouts, Reed got to join with his pack and release pheasants into the wild (for people to hunt down and shoot, of course, but we'll forget about that fact and pretend they were rescuing them!)
